DAVID L. STANLEY SR.
Biographical Sketch
Rev. David Stanley Sr. was born the fourth of five children to Mr. Charles and Mrs.Anna Stanley in Dublin, Georgia. Upon his parents moving to Macon he attended M.M. Burdell Elementary school and is a 1973 graduate of Northeast High School where he was voted the first runner up as the friendliest high school senior.
Before Rev. Stanley accepted the call into the ministry in 1985, he served as a Sunday School Teacher and then later as Sunday School Superintendent of the Union Baptist Church. After receiving God’s call to the ministry in 1985, he accepted pastoral
duties at Union Baptist Church in 1987.
As Pastor, his philosophy is the importance of instructing his flock (and others) so they will become more
knowledgeable about God’s word. He implemented the Union Baptist Non-Accredited Bible School to further enhance
regular Bible study in educating his members. Pastor Stanley has implemented many ministries and programs to
enhance both spiritual and numerical growth.
In 2001, he led Union Baptist in the dedication of a new Sanctuary and was commended for keeping it in the
community. Construction underway for a full functioning Life Center with enhancements
to the present structure. In 2021 marks the completion of a full functioning Life Center with enhancements to the present
structure.
Pastor Stanley had received numerous awards for his community involvement which includes the Key to the City for community work and was selected by the citizens of Macon as one of Macon‘s Most Inspirational Speakers. He received a Certificate of Diploma from Moody College in Old Testament Studies and a B.A. Degree in Biblical studies from Carolina University in Lincolnton, North Carolina. His study is ongoing to keep abreast of God‘s word. Not only is Rev. Stanley sought after for preaching engagements, he is also an excellent teacher called on to do workshops and seminars.
His affiliations include Member and Past President of the Baptist Ministers Union of Macon; First Vice President of the Sixth District of the State Convention of Georgia and 2nd Vice Moderator of the Union Baptist Association. On February 17, 2015 Rev. Stanley was appointed and accepted by the State Convention to serve as Sixth District President by the late President Curtis Raines Sr.
Finally, yet most importantly, Pastor Stanley is married to Deborah Crawford Stanley, he is the father of one son
David Jr., daughter-in-law Chiquita and grandson Brandon.
